Submissions are now open for the the Gay-Lesbian-Transgender Film Festival El Lugar sin Limites. Submissions can be documentaries (except for institutional material), short films, feature films, as well as experimental fiction, animation or home video. Material must be gay, lesbian, transgender and / or bisexual issues-related. The 8th El Lugar Sin Limites Film Festivalwill be held simultaneously in five Ecuadorian cities: Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Manta and Riobamba November 20-28, 2010. Big Sky Documentary Film Festival
Regular: September 3, Final: October 15
The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, the premier venue for nonfiction film in the American West, is seeking submissions for its eighth annual event. From February 11-20, 2011 the festival will screen 100+ films, including world and U.S.premieres, classics, rare and experimental works on Montana's largest screen at the historic Wilma Theater in downtown Missoula, Montana. In addition to ten days of screenings, the event will feature many public and VIP events including panel discussions, galas, receptions and networking round-tables.

The competitive event is open to non-fiction films and videos of all genres, subject matter, lengths and production dates. Awards and cash prizes will be given for Best Documentary Feature (over 50 minutes), Best Documentary Short (15-50 minutes), Best Mini-Doc (under 15 minutes) and best documentary about the American West (the Big Sky Award).  More info>

The Minneapolis Really Underground Film Festival

The Minneapolis Really Underground Film Festival (October, 2010) is putting the call out for filmmakers: No exorbitant entry fees! Just send submissions (of any length) on DVD or VHS to: MRUFiFest, 2541 3rd Ave S. #2, Minneapolis, MN 55404

INCLUDE name, number, and email of the film-maker(s). For a return of the screener, include a self addressed stamped envelope--otherwise, we'll keep it. At the fest itself, we'll screen films on DVD or 16mm (and VHS if necessary). Shamrock Film Fest
Deadline: September 27
A short film festival, October 7-9th, 2010 in Rosemount, MN. Highlights include a gala opening event on Oct 7, followed by screening of entries and an awards gala. New this year will be workshops for filmmakers and the public to enjoy. The festival has expanded its reach this year to include international entries.
